Mathew Kilcrease
Mathew “Mat” Kilcrease is a former Daphne Police Officer and is currently a Major (Commissioned Officer) in the United States Army Reserves. As a police officer, Mat was trained as a traffic homicide investigator and accident reconstructionist. In addition to fundamentals of accident reconstruction, Mat has supplemented his training with specialized coursework in pedestrian, bicycle, motorcycle, and commercial vehicle crash reconstruction. He has been fully accredited by ACTAR (#3586) since August 10, 2018. Throughout his career, Mat has investigated or reconstructed more than 1,000 traffic crashes.
Mat has served more than 16 years in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Army Reserve Components, where he serves as a Field Artillery and Logistics Officer. Mat has attended more than 20 U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, and Joint courses throughout his career. He holds three Additional Skill Identifiers: 5U-Tactical Air Operations Officer, L7-Joint Fires Observer, and L8-Joint Operational Fires and Effects. He has served in every echelon of the U.S. Army from Team to Squad to Platoon to Battery/Company to Battalion and finally to Brigade. Mat has served as an Observer Controller / Trainer at the National Training Center (Fort Irwin, CA) and the Joint Readiness Training Center (Fort Polk, LA) for multiple rotations.
Mat has also served as a government contractor where he has taught the Military Decision-Making Process (MDMP) to U.S. Army National Guard Battalions and Brigades across the country. As a contractor, Mat specializes in instructing the Fires Warfighting Function, where he details the intricacies of the Targeting process; this includes building and utilizing Fires products such as the Target Synchronization Matrix, the High Payoff Target List, and others.
Outside of work, Mat enjoys volunteering with different rescues such as the American Belgian Malinois Rescue and the Malinois and Dutch Shepherd Rescue. Mat has a Belgian Malinois, a Belgian Tervuren, a German Shepherd, and a Labrador mix, all of which were rescues at some point. Mat is also an avid fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide athletics, the Atlanta Braves, and the Atlanta Falcons.
